The Fgura community is mourning the loss of William Hales, who was described as “the heart” of Happy Kids Stationery, a family-run shop located in Triq San Tumas in Fgura.
In a post shared on social media, the business announced: “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of William Hales, the heart of our family business. William built this shop with love, dedication, and care for every customer who walked through the door.”
As the family takes time to grieve and celebrate his life, the shop will remain closed throughout this week.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, 8th October at 2:00pm at Fgura Parish Church.
His son, Neil Hales – pioneer of the acid and house music genre in Malta, who performs under the name 'Acidulant' – paid tribute to his father in a heartfelt message: “You kept on fighting till the end, I’m so proud of you. Finally you can rest once and for all, and you will be comfortable watching over us and taking care of us from up there. I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for me and all our family. I couldn’t have a better father than you, loved by everyone. Today you left us from this world, but the beautiful memories I have with you will never die.”
Members of the community remembered Mr Hales as a hardworking and kind-hearted individual who was always ready with a smile.
In addition to his work at Happy Kids Stationery, he also served as a committee member of Fgura United FC for two years.
