Edward Mizzi and Lisa Abela have been given new roles at Camilleri Preziosi Advocates.
Dr Mizzi, promoted to Managing Senior Associate, has been working at the firm for over a decade and his main area Is employment, industrial relations and health and safety.
This includes opportunities to sit on disciplinary boards, mediate, and representing clients before the Industrial Tribunal.
Dr Mizzi also assists clients with procurement, debt collection, and other corporate and civil matters, including litigation.
On the other hand, Dr Abela has been appointed Special Counsel.
She joined the firm in 2014 and has since worked extensively on EU competition and state aid law, assisting clients in navigating investigations by authorities, preparing merger filings, and developing strategies to mitigate legal risks.
In her new role, she will continue to focus on these niche areas providing guidance to her team and ensuring that the “firm continues to uphold the highest standards of legal practice and client service.”
Dr Abela brings a significant number of years of experience in the field, having previously worked at the national competition authority within the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority.
She has also been involved in advising both the public and private sectors on planning a compliant procurement strategy, drafting procurement documents, reviewing of procurement processes, advising on changes to public contracts, and advising bidders on challenging procurement processes.
Furthermore, she is also a visiting lecturer at University of Malta for the LL.B. undergraduate programme and the Master of Laws programme in European and Comparative Law.
