Cablenet Communications Systems has announced the appointment of GO plc CEO Nikhil Patil as its Chairman, following the resignation from the post of director and Chairman of Nicholas Shiacolas.

The announcement was made on Tuesday via the Malta Stock Exchange. 

The Cyprus-based subsidiary of GO plc also operates in the telecommunications industry, offering internet, cable tv, mobile and fixed telephony home services. GO holds 60.26 per cent shares in the company.

About Nikhil Patil

Mr Patil has over 15 years of experience in strategy, operations, and mergers and acquisitions, across telecoms companies like GO, Cablenet, BMIT AND Interoute.

Having previously served as non-executive director of GO, working closely with the company’s senior management to define and implement its strategy, he spearheaded a number of strategic acquisitions, helping GO to diversify its business both in Malta and Cyprus.

He was also responsible for the creation of Malta Properties Company plc, today one of the largest publicly listed real estate companies in Malta, where he served as CEO until 2018. That same year, he was appointed CEO of GO plc, a role he still occupies today.

Mr Patil has a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from IMD, Switzerland.

He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
