As Malta prepares to define its long-term strategic direction, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and the Ministry for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects are inviting businesses and self-employed individuals to take an active role in shaping Malta Vision 2050.

From 29th January to 31st January, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators will gather at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta to participate in a series of workshops aimed at crafting a resilient, competitive, and sustainable national vision.

What is Malta Vision 2050?

Malta Vision 2050 is a Government-led initiative which aims to establish a forward-looking economic model that balances growth with sustainability while enhancing the quality of life for all citizens. With input from experts with international experience in national strategy, the vision will include key milestones for 2035, ensuring Malta remains adaptive to evolving global challenges, including:

  • Climate change and sustainability
  • Technological disruption and digital innovation
  • Demographic shifts and workforce development
  • Infrastructure and urban planning
  • Economic competitiveness in a rapidly changing world

Prime Minister Robert Abela has emphasised that this vision is about more than economic progress – it’s about ensuring prosperity is shared by all. The initiative is being guided by an Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee, led by Minister Silvio Schembri and a senior OPM representative, ensuring a broad, cross-sectoral approach.

Participation in Malta Vision 2050 will allow you to:

  • Contribute insights from your industry
  • Network with key stakeholders and Government officials
  • Help define economic and business policies that will impact the next 25 years
  • Ensure your sector’s needs are addressed in the national strategy

By engaging in this dialogue, you can influence policies that will directly impact your business and industry, ensuring they remain competitive and future-proof.

Participants can choose from a range of specialised workshops, each tackling a critical aspect of Malta’s future development:

29th January:

  • Workshop 1 – Sustainable economic growth

30th January:

  • Workshop 2 – Quality of Life
  • Workshop 3 – Self-sustainability

31st January:

  • Workshop 4 – Smart land usage

Each session will offer business leaders a platform to discuss key challenges and opportunities, ensuring that Malta’s strategic direction reflects the realities of different sectors.

Only registered participants will be granted entry, and each organisation may nominate one representative to take part in the discussions.

To participate, businesses and self-employed individuals must complete the official registration form, selecting their business sector and preferred workshop theme.
