Bank of Valletta (BOV) has expanded into the general insurance market through a partnership with MAPFRE Middlesea Insurance, offering a range of products – including home, commercial home (rented residential properties), individual health, and travel insurance – directly through its branches.
Home and commercial home insurance are already available, while individual health and travel coverage will be introduced later this year.
BOV CEO Kenneth Farrugia, said the move is part of the bank’s strategy to broaden its service offerings and provide customers with convenient access to essential insurance solutions.
“It is part of our broader vision to remain customer-centric and innovative in an evolving financial services landscape. By introducing access to general insurance products, we are extending our role as a true partner in our customers’ life journey,” he said.
Simon Azzopardi, Chief Personal & Wealth Officer, noted that the partnership leverages MAPFRE’s global expertise and builds on the bank’s existing life insurance services.
Etienne Sciberras, MAPFRE Middlesea CEO, highlighted that the collaboration allows customers to access more personalised insurance solutions, while Boris Curmi, MAPFRE Middlesea Chief Officer Commercial, said it strengthens their joint offering in safeguarding homes, health, and travel.
BOV also said that it continues to promote financial literacy and awareness around insurance, aiming to help customers understand the value of protecting their assets.
