Speaking as part of the Malta Business Bureau’s ‘MeetMBBTeam’ series introducing its executive team, CEO Joe Tanti, “a people person, who takes great pride in helping others develop and grow” provided insights into his career and approach to his life and career.

His proudest moment working at MBB, he reflected, has been giving young university graduates the opportunity to develop themselves and shape a new future for the organisation.

Asked what advice he might give to young people, he suggested they pursue a career they love: “Work takes up a lot of time, so it is worth making the very best of it.”

More importantly though, he encourages young people to “grab the chance” to go abroad and broaden their horizons when they get the opportunity, before bringing back home what they have learned.

From the perspective of a business leader, he believes his peers need to ensure they foster a "positive and engaging work environment" which, in turn, “will greatly influence employees’ attitude towards their job and productivity levels”.

Providing insights into his own life, asked what the title of a hypothetical book about his life would be, he again emphasised his belief in the importance of travel, saying it would be called ‘Travel gives you a story to tell'.

Reflecting, he explained that his time living and working in Switzerland, the UK and Ireland have heavily influenced his perspectives and the life decisions he’s made so far.

“Career-wise, these enriching experiences have enabled me to widen my professional network and continue re-inventing myself”, he added.

Turning to the future, asked where he expects to see himself in five years’ time he joked that hopefully aging is like “fine wine”, before clarifying: “In all seriousness, I will keep doing what I do best: mentoring and coaching our next generation of business leaders.”
