APS Bank celebrated Mental Health Awareness Week from the 9th to 13th May, in an effort to support employee wellbeing.
During the week, the Bank lit up the Birkirkara Head Office’s façade in green, the colour that mental health awareness is associated with, along with a visual on the recently installed LED billboard.
In order to show their support towards the initiative, employees were encouraged to wear something green during a dress down day on Friday, while green apples were also distributed to each of the Bank’s branches and offices.
Additionally, the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is available for free to all employees, with this being part of the Bank’s commitment to support employee welfare.
Among its services, the EAP offers access to confidential counselling, psychotherapy, guidance and also support sessions to help resolve work, family and personal issues, which includes services provided by the Richmond Foundation’s Healthy Minds Work programme.
Commenting on the week, Chief People Officer Ray Bonnici said: “Our holistic approach to employee welfare encompasses the physical, social, financial, spiritual as well as mental wellbeing.”
“This month, we launched a series of initiatives, including Mental Health First Aid, bespoke training on Fostering Resilience and Self-Care Mechanisms, and promoting Psychological Safety and Containment for the senior management team, complementing the programme for all line-managers with a session on the Manager as a Coach.”
European Mental Health Awareness Week was initially set up and run by Mental Health Europe, and several companies are following in their footsteps to promote mental care and wellbeing.
