Aeroates, a provider of customised aviation HR solutions, has officially opened its new headquarters at Smart City, Kalkara.

The launch event, held on 15th May 2025, was hosted in partnership with Women in Aviation Malta (WIAM), an organisation dedicated to bridging skill and gender gaps within the aviation industry.

Beyond marking the official company launch, the event also stood as a “celebration of progress and a call to action for the aviation industry to embrace change,” said Aeroates in a statement.

The event united aviation experts, influential industry figures, and champions of gender equality to honour past achievements and explore the future direction of the aviation sector in Malta.

Aeroates highlighted its expanding team, with plans to grow its aviation crew member base from 1,200 to 1,800 by the end of 2025, serving a diverse portfolio of clients across both commercial and private aviation sectors.

Ruth Sawers, Founder and Managing Director of WIAM, opened the event by highlighting its significance and underscoring the vital need to empower women in an industry traditionally dominated by men.

Katya De Giovanni, Member of Parliament, addressed the audience by sharing key industry statistics and outlining her efforts to promote equal opportunities within the sector. She inspired attendees by reminding them that their "achievements are not just personal milestones, but beacons lighting the path for others."

Following her address, Aeroates’ CEO Giovanna Mirabile emphasised the need for greater accessibility to leadership roles for women and advocated for cultivating a workplace culture that prioritises people at its core.

Aeroates’ HR and Compliance Manager, Tracy Gerada Ciantar, also led an open discussion with attendees on the challenges women face in the aviation industry. Key concerns that emerged included persistent gender stereotypes and the difficulty many women encounter in securing opportunities with employers willing to consider their applications.

The evening wrapped up with a networking reception held in SmartCity’s conference area.
