Malta’s Public Service has a brand-new look, as it excitedly looks ahead towards a bright future. The rebrand was unveiled by the Head of the Public Service Tony Sultana, during the first Public Service EXPO on 10th May 2023.

“With our brand-new contemporary look, we want to express the Public Service’s will to continue modernising its operation, for the benefit of its customers. It is the surface of a deep-rooted technology-led process of modernisation, aimed at providing a superior service to Maltese citizens,” Mr Sultana explained during the launch.

The newly launched brand in fact carries the values of a rejuvenated Public Service, which is willing to reach out to the public, amongst other ways, through the first ever Public Service EXPO which is being held between the 10th and 12th May.

“The EXPO is an excellent opportunity to showcase the country’s entire public administration, and what happens behind the scenes to run all the crucial services offered by Government,” Mr Sultana notes.

In fact, though digitalisation and technology take centre-stage at the EXPO, things don’t stop there.  “We want to underline a completely new vision and mentality of how to do business, including the introduction of new practices and newer tools for heightened efficiency, even taking advantage of artificial intelligence.”

The public is seldom interested in bureaucracy and technicalities, and the Public Service is well aware of this. In fact, the public administration strives to offer a seamlessly united service that makes no distinction between departments, agencies or other forms of entities. “Only in this way, can we ensure that our performance is constantly improved, for the benefit of our clients,” Mr Sultana concludes.

The first Public Service EXPO which is being held at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali, sheds light on the various intelligent systems that are used on a daily basis by several government entities. These include systems that facilitate local permits, social benefits and social security, personal health care, and several other application systems among others.

A memorable exhibit will probably be the unique bomb-disposal robot which assists the Armed Forces personnel keep citizens and themselves safe in the case of an explosive threat.

Other exhibits that will certainly capture the imagination of the public include a digital kitchen, real-life holograms, a passport identification system, and many other robots seemingly borrowed from science fiction.

And for those who always wondered how certain nation-wide management systems are run, the EXPO will also open a window onto this subject. The public will be able to learn more, and closely experience the Emergency Management Control Centre, Air Traffic Demos, the Malta Stock Exchange dashboard, a medicine testing laboratory, and the digital soul that runs one of the country’s most iconic landmarks – the Triton Fountain – among others.

Furthermore, digital tools used in the fields of diplomacy, agriculture and other unlikely areas of operation, will also be exhibited at the EXPO.

The EXPO will remain open till Friday 12th May, with the last few remaining places for visitors available on registration via www.publicservice.gov.mt.
