Prior to being appointed Director, Reuben Debono was Manager of the Business Risk Services Section of Grant Thornton Malta after a four-year stint as Senior Associate.

As Director within the Maypole Group, he oversees the Finance, IT and Governance.

“Together with my colleagues, I am tasked with formulating the strategy of the Group to ensure a sustainable growth,” Mr Debono, a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant, explains.

Holder of a Diploma in Maltese, Banking and Financial Institutions, he is reading for an MBA from the Henley School of Business – University of Reading.

Mr Debono was elected Board Member of Right2Smile, an NGO offering opportunities for volunteers to engage in social projects with children, young children and their communities around the world for the period 2018-2020. He sits on the Young Member Committee of the Malta Institute of Accountants.

The Maypole Group is a family run business operating within the manufacturing and distribution of food products. With a strong emphasis on bread and baked products, the Group has its own production facility located on the outskirts of Qormi, a village renowned for its bakeries, especially Maltese bread. Maypole has over 20 retail outlets based on a convenience store concept spread throughout the island.
