Working as an accountant with a local accountancy/audit firm, Marisa Ciappara gained experience in various areas of accountancy, including statutory company audit, management accounts, cash flow projections, forecast, payroll, planning in taxation, VAT and project management.

She then served for several years as Financial Controller with the Corinthia Group of Companies within the hospitality industry both locally and abroad. At Corinthia, she was involved in the opening of several new hotels and catering outlets as well as intake-over processes.

“Eventually, I decided to be a full-time mother for eight years but still kept myself updated by being a part time self-employed accountant for a number of small and medium size businesses,” Ms Ciappara recounts.

She again took up full time employment in 2018 and joined LESA as Financial Controller where, from the outset, she was involved in its setting up, including the process to shift the local wardens from a private company to a government agency, signing off the first collective agreement, moving premises, etc.

It was just before the breakout of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 that Ms Ciappara decided to make another move forward in her career and joined ARMS Ltd as Chief Officer Finance, a role she describes as very challenging and which she enjoys doing.

ARMS Ltd is a private limited liability company set up as a joint venture between the Enemalta Corporation and the Water Services Corporation.
