A financial services professional and corporate executive, David G. Curmi is the Chief Executive Officer of MAPFRE MSV Life plc and sits on the Boards of a number of listed companies including MAPFRE Middlesea plc, MIDI plc and Plaza Centres plc.

Mr Curmi, a former President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and former Chairman of TradeMalta Ltd, Chairs the National Development and Social Fund.

He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of the United Kingdom and a Chartered Insurer.

MAPFRE MSV Life plc, a leader in the provision of life insurance protection, long term savings and retirement planning in Malta, was previously known as MSV Life plc, which, in turn, used to be called Middlesea Valletta Life Assurance Co. Ltd, which had been set up in 1994 between three partners: Middlesea Insurance Co. Ltd, Bank of Valletta plc and Munich RE. Eventually BOV acquired Munich RE’s shareholding and exercised its option to obtain a 1 per cent holding in MSV from Middlesea Insurance plc.
