Toyota Malta, represented locally by Debono Group, on Monday announced Paralympics athlete Maja Theuma as the brand’s newest ambassador.

Maya is a para swimmer who is currently training to compete at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris this summer, taking place between Wednesday 28th August and Sunday 8th September.

In a statement, the company said that “we as Toyota Malta and Debono Group are dedicated to providing Mobility for All, and are so proud to contribute to this mission by supporting this young para-athlete.”

“Maja inspires others to chase their dreams no matter the obstacles that lie ahead, a value which Debono Group Founder Michael Debono shared when he set about importing the very first Toyota into Malta and Europe in 1960!”

Commenting on the news, Maja shared with her network that she is “absolutely honoured” to join Toyota Malta and Debono Group as their new brand ambassador, adding: “As the Worldwide Official Mobility Partner of the International Olympic Committee – IOC and the International Paralympic Committee, Toyota is not just a champion of mobility; it is a beacon of possibility.”

Maja is currently enjoying solid momentum, having just ended the Para Swimming World Series on a high by setting a new national record in the 400m freestyle race.

Currently, she is competing in the Madeira 2024 Para Swimming European Open Championships, taking place between 21-27th April.
