Three pharmacies in Rabat are set to change hands as the present owners selling all three to a company running another pharmacy in Birkirkara.

Ideal Pharmacy on Triq il-Kbira, Central Pharmacy on Triq Għajn Qajjet and Nigret Pharmacy on the corner of Triq Ħal Bajjada and Triq iz-Zahar are owned by Claire and Larry Joseph Shoemake as part of the Rabat Pharmacy Group

Late last month, the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) received notice that the intellectual property rights and the premises of the three Rabat pharmacies will be acquired by Health Direct Ltd, which already operates another pharmacy in Birkirkara: St Jude Pharmacy.

Health Direct Ltd is owned by E.J. Busuttil Holdings, which is involved in the importation and distribution of healthcare products. It has a wide-ranging portfolio including pharmaceutical and over-the-counter preparations, medical, surgical and laboratory equipment, and healthcare products for personal use.

E.J. Busuttil Holdings is owned by Edwin Busuttil and his offspring.
