STMicroElectronics Malta Ltd and the French Embassy in Malta have donated “2,000 high quality reusable masks and 100 litres of sanitiser to migrants who are currently observing a mandatory quarantine period in the Ħal Far open centre,” a press release issued on Saturday said.
“This donation follows a number of initiatives taken by the Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers (AWAS) to help combat the spread of COVID-19 in the open centre.”
French Ambassador Brigitte Curmi expressed her satisfaction at being able to provide effective assistance during this crisis. In her remarks, the Ambassador reiterated the commitment of France to keep assisting Malta in the field of migration, as it has always done in the past.
General manager of STMicroElectronics Malta Ltd Laurent Filipozzi also stressed the necessity for solidarity, support and reactiveness in the context of the current outbreak.
