Malta’s Salvo Grima Group, a group of companies specialising in ship supply, travel retail, wholesale and product distribution in Europe and worldwide, on Sunday announced the formation of Salvo Grima Africa Distribution Ltd, which will serve as the continental headquarters for the Group’s activities in Africa. 

Salvo Grima Africa Distribution Ltd is also a registered investor of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), CEO Karl Aquilina revealed.

The event was held to mark the end of a successful CHOGM 2022 week, with a cocktail reception being held at the group’s new corporate offices at the “iconic” I&M Building in Kigali, Rwanda.

During the event Mr Aquilina showcased the new corporate office and also gave a brief overview of the group’s operational history in Rwanda.

Ambassador of the European Union to Rwanda Nicola Bellomo, Ambassador of Malta to the African Union, Ronald Micallef, RDB Deputy CEO Zephanie Niyonkuru and TradeMalta CEO Anton Buttigieg, all attended the event.

The event concluded with a cocktail reception at the I&M Building’s rooftop terrace.

Salvo Grima Rwanda was established in 2020 as part of Salvo Grima Group, specialising in the distribution of consumer goods to markets in Africa on behalf of several leading global brands, being the official national distributor of BAT, Danone, Essity, Mars, Wrigley, and also Unilever.

The company aims to have 80 employees by the end of 2022, and currently has a network of eight depots and over 30 distribution vehicles in Rwanda.

Formed in 1860 in Malta, Salvo Grima Group now has operations in seven countries with over 200 employees.
