Robert Arrigo & Sons founder, Robert Arrigo, was among those honoured during the 2022 Republic Day ceremony.
The hospitality industry stalwart passed away earlier this year, on 18th October, and the award bestowed upon Mr Arrigo by the President of Malta George Vella was handed out to his widow, Marina Arrigo. This award is "one of the country's highest forms of recognition" and it is given to those who have been of service to the country throughout their lives or in their work.
Mr Arrigo "was awarded the medal for his lifelong work in the tourism sector, through his company Robert Arrigo & Sons."
The handing out of the Medal for services to the Republic (Midalja għall-Qadi tar Repubblika) takes place every year on 13th December. The late Mr Arrigo "was among a long list of politicians, academics and philanthropists to receive recognition during the ceremony that is held every year at the President’s Palace in Valletta."
