Paul Abela has been re-elected President of the Malta Chamber of SMEs, following a meeting between the organisation’s newly-appointed council on Wednesday.
The meeting, which took place just two weeks after the 75th Annual General Meeting of the SME Chamber, was held with the intention of electing the organisation’s President and officials.
Mr Abela was reconfirmed as President, a position he has held since 2007.
He thanked the Council Members for their trust in electing him to serve in the role, while also expressing gratitude to CEO Abigail Mamo and her team for their dedication to the work of the SME Chamber.
Mr Abela remarked that he looks forward to another year at the service of members.
Additionally, Philip Fenech was also confirmed as Deputy President, while Marcel Mizzi was elected Officer – Finance and Administration.
The Malta Chamber of SMEs, previously known as the General Retailers and Traders Union, is the local organisation of independent private businesses, with over 7,000 members from around 12,000 different business outlets. It represents Maltese traders and retailers in different national for a, including the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD), the Planning Authority, and the Advisory Board of the National Organisation, among others.
