The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) has launched a recruitment process for five Deputy Chief Executive Officer positions as it begins implementing its organisational restructuring.
The restructuring was approved by Parliament under Act XV of 2026, with the new roles set to form part of the Authority’s Executive Leadership Team and report directly to CEO Kenneth Farrugia.
The five Deputy CEO positions will oversee Supervision; Enforcement, Resolution & Financial Stability; Cross Sectoral Supervision, TCSPs and Intelligence; Strategy, Policy and Legal; and Digital & Corporate Services.
MFSA Chairman Jesmond Gatt described the recruitment process as the “first substantive step” in implementing the mandate given to the Authority by Parliament.
“Parliament has given us a clear mandate to reshape how this Authority operates, and this recruitment is the first substantive step in delivering on it,” he said.
The MFSA said the new structure is intended to support its ambition of becoming a more agile and business-focused regulator, while continuing to safeguard the integrity of Malta’s financial services sector.
Mr Farrugia said changes in technology, artificial intelligence and international regulatory standards were reshaping financial services regulation.
The Authority said the recruitment process will consider candidates from both Malta and overseas, drawing on internal expertise as well as specialist external support.
