In a week’s time, on Thursday 10th October, the newly refurbished Massimo Dutti outlet will reopen at The Point Shopping Mall, in Sliema.

This announcement was shared by Nick Spiteri Paris, CEO of Bigbon Group, the company representing the brand in Malta.

“We can’t wait to welcome our customers back,” he wrote.

The outlet has been closed temporarily since 21st April with shoppers having to rely on the second outlet found in Shoreline Mall in Kalkara.

The refurbishment forms part of the group’s strategy to enhance its facilities at the Sliema shopping mall. While Massimo Dutti was the outlet that kicked off the strategy, the rest of its brands at the The Point: Oysho, Stradivarious, Bershka and Pull & Bear will soon follow suit.

In recent months, various established shopping destinations have taken the initiative to improve their facilities amid increased activity in the industry.

For instance, Plaza Centres plc’s Board of Directors noted that investments in the upgrading of the property are essential to remain competitive and attract new tenants to its property in Sliema.

On the other hand, in an interview with WhosWho.mt, The Point CEO Edwin Borg remarked that refurbishments are part of the lifecycle of the shops.

“Store refurbishments, in fashion at least, are mainly driven by the franchisor, not the franchisee or tenant. Usually there is a lifespan for a fit-out, at most it’s around seven years and they have another upgrade midway,” he said.
