Stefan Briffa on Thursday announced that he has been named Company Secretary at commercial property investment company MAS plc.

His new role comes after amassing over 25 years of experience in a number of regulatory and compliance positions at various firms.

Prior to his appointment, he worked at Debono Group for more than two years, where he served as Company Secretary and Head of Compliance and Risk Management, as well as Data Protection Officer. Mr Briffa was tasked with overseeing the compliance and risk functions, and was also entrusted with ensuring compliance with GDPR and other data protection laws and regulations, among other tasks.

He also sat on the Board of Directors at GoToMalta Co Ltd and Car Sharing Services Malta Ltd and served in senior managerial roles at Afilexion Alliance – GTG Advocates and GO plc, the latter for more than 23 years. During his time working at GO, Mr Briffa was also General Assembly Chair of the European Telecommunications Network Operators’ Association (ETNO).

He holds a Master of Arts in European Studies, a Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Public Policy, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management, all from University of Malta, among various other qualifications. Mr Briffa is also currently reading for a Diploma in The Laws of Procedure from the same university.

MAS plc is a green property investor operating in the Central and Eastern European markets. Through its joint-venture partner Prime Kapital, it now has a significant development pipeline in Romania’s retail and residential sectors. While MAS plc’s headquarters are in Ta’ Xbiex, Malta, it also has offices in the Isle of Man, Luxembourg, Romania, Bulgaria, and Poland.
