There’s nothing delightful about being trapped in traffic, especially when running fashionably late for a crucial meeting or trying to arrive at work on time. While traffic can be infuriating, some try to be more “productive” by listening to an insightful podcast or some relaxing music.

In the Malta Chocolate Factory’s case, it transformed an everyday tiresome marathon into something sweet. Creating the ‘Maltese traffic jam’ chocolate box, the chocolate factory produced a cheeky take on the never-ending saga of battling everyday traffic.

The chocolate box is a mix of dark, milk and white chocolate cars. Speaking to WhosWho.mt Bevan Marwich, General Manager at the Bugibba outlet, said that they have been quite popular with tourists.

“It’s evident that the traffic is pretty terrible and we decided to poke fun at it. Tourists love them and we also had corporate clients who ordered some boxes for their staff as a joke,” said Mr Marwick.

But what’s next for the chocolatiers?

The Malta Chocolate Factory is the only chocolate manufacturer on the islands and it has been open since 2017. It is presently distributing its products to 60 shops across Malta and holds regular classes for chocolate making, cocktails and wine and chocolate pairing workshops.

“Some of the most popular items are the chocolate bars. Last year the factory produced a total of 42,000 chocolate bars,” he added.

Mr Marwick explained that he is currently on the lookout for crane mould, hinting at the construction scene on the island.

In addition to the humourous chocolate, the factory is aiming to branch out and introduce more local flavours since their latest pricky pear chocolate bar has been a hit. “We are aiming at diversifying the rage by the end of the first quarter,” Mr Marwick concluded.
