KM Malta Airlines announced the appointment of Captain Mark Soler as Director Crew Training, effective from 1st April.
In his role as Director Crew Training, Mr Soler will be responsible for leading the training department in fulfilling the regulatory obligations and compliance governing AOC and ATO operations, ensuring Crew proficiency, evaluating training programs and developing training techniques.
Mr Soler’s career in the aviation industry spans over 30 years, commencing as an ab initio cadet Pilot in 1995.
According to a statement, his professional career includes roles at KM Malta Airlines, Air Malta, Sri Lankan Airlines, SKY Airways, and Etihad Airlines. He transitioned from the Boeing 737 fleet to Airbus 320 in 2001, becoming part of the training team in 2004 as a Theoretical Knowledge Instructor. He accomplished his command upgrade in 2007.
In 2017, he completed the Type Rating Instructor course, achieving significant experience as a ground instructor and simulator examiner, eventually being appointed as Type Rating Examiner in 2018, until recently being at the helm as Head of Ground training. He has extensive experience in training and management which enabled him to affirm a strong foundation in training methodologies.
He has been since then involved in the cadet selection process, command assessments, and recurrent training for both Pilots and Cabin crew. He also played a key role in preparing the Operator’s Conversion Course, as well as ensuring compliance with TM-CAD and EASA regulations.
Mr Soler is also accredited with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Chemistry and Biology and is also active in community service as a scout leader, enjoys middle-distance running, trekking, and volunteering
