On Saturday, Kempinski Hotel celebrated 25 years since it opened its doors for the first time.

Located in San Lawrenz, Gozo, the hotel marked “25 years of hospitality, joy, and cherished moments with guests from near and far.”

In a nostalgic post on Facebook, the team behind its social media shared images of the hotel throughout its journey.

“As we turn 25, we are excited about the ongoing renovations and refurbishments,” the team commented.

The Gozo-based hotel forms part of the Kempinski hotel brand, spread across different countries and continents.

The brand was born from Berthold Kempinski, a wine merchant, whose reputation for elegant dining and affordable luxury options led him to open the first Kempinski wine restaurant in Leipziger Strasse 25, in the early 20th century.

By the mid-1950s the Kempinski family business was taken over by Mr Kempinski’s grandson, Friedrich Unger. Dr Unger opened the business’ first luxury hotel in the city, which became popular with fashion enthusiasts, heads of state, celebrities and Nobel Prize winners.
