Lombard Bank Malta plc on Wednesday announced that John Bonello’s appointment as Non-Executive Director has been granted regulatory approval.
The announcement of the appointment had originally been made by the National Development and Social Fund (NDSF), a Government agency tasked with managing and administering contributions made through the Individual Investor Programme (IIP), last June.
Aside from his new role, Dr Bonello is a Partner at Malta-based law firm 8Point Law, on a self-employed basis. He has worked there for more than three years.
He holds a Doctor of Laws from University of Malta and a Master of Laws in International Maritime Law from the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI).
Over the past 18 years, he has assisted clients in various areas such as dispute resolution, real estate, residency and citizenship, and also cross-border family matters. His career includes experiences at Scerri & Bonello Advocates, Lands Authority, and Courts of Justice, as well as the Malta Resources Authority.
Dr Bonello was elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers in 2018.
Lombard Bank Malta is an authorised currency dealer and financial intermediary, as well as a member of the Depositor Compensation Scheme and the investor Compensation Scheme. The bank’s origins date back to 1955, when Lombard North Central of the UK was active in Malta by accepting deposits through agents. In 1969, Lombard Bank Malta was registered as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the UK-based bank. It is now listed on the Malta Stock Exchange as a credit institution and an investment service provider.
