The launch of the new association was announced by Dr Debono together with general secretary Joanna Delia, treasurer Charlene Scicluna, and founding members David Grech, Tyron Pillow, and Anna Maria Fenech Magrin.

APAM has been set up to promote and advance the effective, safe, and ethical practice of Aesthetic Medicine for the benefit of medical practitioners and members of the public.

“[It] will do so through leadership, information, education, support, professional development and maintenance of the highest professional standards among its members and within aesthetic medicine circles,” said Dr Debono.

The association’s team brings with them a breadth of knowledge and experience.

Its general secretary, Joanna Delia, has had an especially distinguished career. She was still in her twenties when she became a founding director of TheSmartSkinClinic.

Dr Delia is also a vocal women’s rights activist, and she relentlessly pursues the normalisation of equality between genders through empowerment, vocalisation and validation.
