IZI Group’s gambling turnover, the operator of the National Lottery of Malta, a large network of retail outlets providing gaming experiences, and the Dragonara Casino, is projected to exceed €1 billion,  reflecting the continued growth of its operations across Malta.

Player winnings from both the National Lottery and the Dragonara Casino are expected to reach €916 million, highlighting the significant activity generated across the group’s gaming portfolio.

In its Updated Financial Analysis Summary, released late November 2024, the group forecast profit before tax to increase to €8.9 million, up from €7.1 million for the last financial year.

It is also forecasting a positive financial outlook for 2026, anticipating a notable improvement in profits driven by stronger performance across all its gambling segments, including lottery games, sports betting, iGaming, and land-based casinos.

The group is laying the groundwork for scalable international business opportunities that could possibly change the fabric of the group in the future, it said.

Online casino and sports betting have continued to be strong growth areas for the group, with the segment expanding by 43 per cent in FY2025 compared to FY2024 and reaching a GGR of €4.3 million, up from €3 million the previous year. This momentum has carried into FY2026, as the first quarter delivered record revenues of €1.2 million, ahead of the just under €1 million generated in the same period last year.

IZI also said that it expects to open a new bingo and Historical Horse Racing (HHR) in Gozo next February, with “revenues of both the igaming and land-based casino verticals forecast to continue throughout 2026, albeit at slower rates of growth.”

Historical horse racing was introduced in Malta in July 2024 at the company’s revamped IZIBINGO entertainment centre in Qawra, and marks the first HHR installation outside the USA.

HHR is an electronic gambling product that allows players to bet on replays of horse races that have already taken place, using terminals that typically resemble slot machines.

Total revenue is expected to increase to €101 million, IZI continued, “mostly attributable to improved results across all lottery type games, and the continued strength shown from sports betting,” with operating profit expected to increase to €13.4 million compared to 2025’s €11.9 million.
