Hugo’s Burger Bar, one of the many Paceville establishments founded by former entertainment mogul Hugo Chetcuti, has marked the three-year anniversary of its founder’s death.
Mr Chetcuti tragically succumbed to his injuries on 12th July 2018 after being stabbed outside one of his own establishments on 6th July 2018 by a former employer, CCTV footage of the incident showed.
Dubbed the king of Paceville, or the ‘hospitality king’, Mr Chetcuti left behind a sprawling legacy, with data provided by CreditInfo showing he had been running a business empire that had at least €72 million in assets at the time of his death.
Mr Chetcuti’s first acquisition in Paceville was the purchase of Footloose Bar in the early 1980s. According to the biography presented on many of his outlets’ websites, this humble start was the springboard that led him to own almost all of the biggest venues in Paceville, including Havana, Hugo's Passion, the Shadow Lounge, Hugo’s Terrace, Soho Lounge, Native Bar and Diner, Hugo’s Burger, Hugo’s Seafood and Cocktail (outside of which the stabbing took place), Bacco by Hugo’s Sticks and Sum and Hugo’s Hotel.
Marking the sombre occasion, Hugo’s Burger Bar took to social media writing:
“We take this time to remember the passing of our beloved founder, Hugo Chetcuti, who was tragically taken away from us three years ago today.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear.”
