Jasmine Farrugia on Monday shared that she has been promoted to Head of Compliance within WasteServ Malta Ltd’s environmental compliance team.

“Looking forward to working together with my team and fellow colleagues to reach new heights,” she said.

“Environmental compliance is both a duty and an opportunity. An opportunity to better the company’s overall operational efficiency and most of all to better the country’s environmental state,” she added.

Aside from her new role, she has also served as Company Data Protection Officer for two years. Dr Farrugia first joined the Government agency as Senior Professional Officer – Compliance in 2021, and since then has been involved in a number of initiatives, specialising in environmental law compliance.

She also worked as Paralegal – Intellectual Property Law & Spanish Legal Drafting at Drako Limited, and was a Student Trainee and Legal Trainee at the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and KPMG Malta, respectively.

She holds a Masters of Advocacy and Bachelor of Laws, both from University of Malta, as well as a Master of Laws in Environmental Law and Practice from De Montfort University and a Bachelor of Laws in International Law and Energy and Environmental Law from University of Dundee. She is also qualified in Intellectual Property Law from University of Copenhagen.

WasteServ Malta Ltd was established in 2002 as Malta’s major operator in the local waste management sector. It states that since its inception, it has been “committed to promoting waste reduction and recycling”, and to also establish and maintain waste management infrastructure to protect the environment and society.
