Over the past decade, Malta’s job landscape has undergone a significant shift, as foreign talent increasingly fill key positions due to shortages in the local labour pool. As a result, non-Maltese workers now make up over a quarter of the total workforce. In response to this trend, CEO Matthew Mantvydas Narusevicius established WFDM Ltd in Malta back in 2020, and seeing its success, he took it to Cyprus as WFDM Holdings Ltd in 2021.

A leading recruitment and staffing agency, WFDM has brought a fresh approach to streamlining the recruitment process, offering cutting-edge solutions for businesses seeking global talent. This company has become synonymous with professional recruitment and consulting, guaranteeing transparency and reliability every step of the way.

What began as a logistics company, has scaled into various offerings, spanning recruitment, temporary staffing, and outsourcing for major clients, including public companies. By diversifying its recruitment sources, WFDM mitigates risks linked to relying solely on foreign labour markets. The success of this risk-diversification approach is reflected in WFDM's remarkable growth trajectory, with staffing increasing by an average of 700 per cent year-on-year.

“For us, managing risk means diversifying our recruitment channels. We don't rely solely on foreign labour but also prioritise hiring individuals from Malta and across Europe, offering opportunities to those often overlooked in the job market. This not only serves to reduce risks but also benefits the community, aligning with our main mission," explains the CEO.

WFDM’s approach involves identifying local talent and providing them with necessary training and support, while also recruiting from European countries to address labour shortages in specific sectors. This ensures a versatile workforce capable of meeting various demands. “While other companies may focus solely on profits,” the CEO remarks, “we prioritise building a team aligned with our values and mission.”

At the heart of WFDM’s talent acquisition strategy is a commitment to fostering positive employee experiences. By treating employees like family and offering extensive benefits, WFDM creates a supportive work environment where everyone feels valued. Matthew emphasises the importance of employee satisfaction: "Our aim is to go beyond being just an employer by empowering every employee to succeed. We invest in training, recognise outstanding performance, and offer competitive pay rates. Because ultimately, our people are our engine; we're a company by humans, for humans."

Matthew emphasises the company’s focus on recruiting the right personnel, rather than just meeting quotas. “So, we don’t simply interview the person,” Matthew explains, “but we also walk them through all the necessary due diligence checks.” In fact, WFDM utilises software like Lexus Nexus to ensure they comply with data protection and criminal background checks. “That’s how we ensure our practices reflect our commitment to responsible recruitment,” Matthew clarifies.

When it comes to strategy, WFDM prides itself on being transparent. As the company’s CEO, Matthew is deeply involved in all aspects of the business, from HR to accounting. “Having built WFDM from the ground up, I know how crucial it is to foster a culture of transparency,” he notes, highlighting the company’s value of keeping operations above board.

As our conversation turns to “JobsinMalta Today ”, Matthew’s face lights up and he proudly shares the platform’s genesis. “Recognising a gap in Malta’s job platforms, we wanted to create a user-friendly solution that maximises WFDM's network and expertise. So, we partnered with a development company to design a platform that streamlines job searches and connects employers with top talent. It took us two years to develop, but we can confidently say that we offer the best rates in the market. Plus, our system generates highly relevant results as users can filter for only the most pertinent listings."

In addition to JobsinMalta Today, WFDM is gearing up to launch Audit3000, a system to support compliance efforts. Curious to find out what sets this system apart, we ask Matthew to elaborate. Matthew explains that as a former accountant, Audit3000 reflects his desire to modernise traditional auditing practices, making them more accessible and efficient. Developed in collaboration with seasoned auditors, the software automates tedious tasks, saving time and reducing errors. “After over 14 months of rigorous testing, we’re in the final stages of giving birth to this baby,” the CEO proudly shares. Unlike competing solutions, Audit3000 prioritises user-friendliness and affordability, catering to firms of all sizes. Matthew adds, “By offering a Maltese-produced product at competitive rates, we hope to assist local businesses while simplifying their compliance efforts."

But JobsinMalta Today and Audit3000 aren’t WFDM’s only offerings. MM CRM is another brainchild of the company, born out of frustration with existing CRM systems. “After struggling with various options for two years, we decided to create our own HR-focused CRM,” explains Matthew. This system goes beyond typical CRM functions, starting from lead extraction, moving through the recruitment process, and extending to HR tasks like document collection and applicant tracking. Originally designed for internal use, MM CRM proved adaptable and found application in sales as well, resulting in two products under the MM CRM umbrella.

Ensuring integrity in recruitment processes is one of WFDM’s core values. That is why data security and confidentiality are fully integrated into every step. Matthew assures, “We encrypt and securely store all data on Amazon servers. Applicants must sign nondisclosure agreements, and we strictly adhere to protocols for document retention and due diligence.”

While technology plays a crucial role in many aspects of WFDM’s operations, manual processes are still used in certain areas, such as shift management. However, technology has been leveraged extensively, especially to streamline HR and recruitment processes, enhancing efficiency across the board. “We’ve also invested in GPS tracking software for motorbikes to prevent theft,” Matthew adds, highlighting the company’s commitment to modern solutions.

Clearly, WFDM is not your run-of-the-mill recruitment agency. By investing in the right people, this company has managed to diversify its offerings and scale its reach. With a grin, Matthew shares, “Starting as a logistics company, who would’ve guessed we’d branch out into so many fields? Our diverse journey highlights our adaptability and the value of having the right people on board.”

As WFDM keeps venturing into new territories, it remains committed to sustainable growth and building strong community ties. Evidently, their success is anchored in their knack for innovation and their openness to impactful collaborations across various sectors.
