Dilini Basnayake has been appointed Cluster Human Resources (HR) Manager at IHG Hotels & Resorts. While the announcement was made on Wednesday, she joined the hospitality company last month.
She brings a wealth of HR and talent management experience to IHG Hotels & Resorts, having previously served as Talent Acquisition Partner for Operations (Malta, Belgium and Spain) at iGaming firm Evolution for a year-and-a-half.
Prior to that, she spent 16 years at HSBC, initially joining as Customer Service Executive in 2005, before she worked her way up to Recruitment Manager, the position she stayed in for more than three years, up until she left the bank in 2021.
IHG Hotels & Resorts welcomed her to the team, adding that she provides a “fresh perspective on HR management in the hospitality sector”.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Basnayake said that she is “excited” to be part of the company and “for the journey ahead”.
Cluster General Manager for Malta, Carlos Malliaroudakis also greeted her to the team, saying that she is a “great addition” to InterContinental Malta and Holiday Inn Express Malta, the hotels that IHG Hotels & Resorts operates locally.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Financial Management Services from Northumbria University, and says she has led “many specialised and challenging departments by contributing towards growth and efficiency”.
IHG Hotels & Resorts is a global hospitality company that encapsulates 17 hotel brands and has over 6,000 open hotels in more than 100 countries. Its portfolio in Malta currently includes St Julian's-based InterContinental Malta and Holiday Inn Express Malta. Eden Leisure Group CEO Simon De Cesare confirmed in June that the Holiday Inn brand is also set to arrive to the country in 2024, further adding to the company's list of hotels in Malta.
