Business Profile
BELS is a Maltese-owned and owner-led English language education and educational tourism company operating established schools in St Paul’s Bay, Malta and Kerċem, Gozo.
The company was founded in Gozo in 1995. Its first two years were dedicated to the painstaking refurbishment and careful restoration of the traditional Gozitan farmhouse that would become its first school. BELS Gozo opened its doors in 1997, followed by BELS Malta in St Paul’s Bay in 2010.
Today, BELS welcomes international learners across adult, young adult, junior, family, 50+, group, online and professional programmes. It also supports Maltese companies and organisations through tailored corporate, workplace and professional English training.
The BELS model is built around the complete student journey. Academic programmes, accommodation, airport transfers, activities and in-country support are managed as connected and equally important parts of the overall experience.
The Malta school offers a lively seaside environment for adult learners, young adults, juniors, families and international groups. BELS Gozo provides a boutique, adult-only setting for learners seeking a quieter and more immersive experience. Together, the schools offer two distinct products supported by one experienced academic and operational structure.
BELS is accredited by FELTOM and Eaquals, licensed by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority, and accredited by Green Standard Schools. Its academic portfolio includes MFHEA-recognised MQF Level 5 professional English awards.
The company also works closely with local businesses and organisations to develop practical English communication skills across customer care, hospitality, tourism, administration, management and other professional sectors. Training can be delivered at BELS, at company premises or online and is designed around genuine workplace requirements.
BELS continues to invest in the long-term development of Malta’s educational tourism sector. Its next major development is a new purpose-built residential language school in Buġibba, which will expand capacity while protecting the principles on which BELS has grown: academic quality, personal service and a carefully managed student experience.
