MCE Ltd are wholesalers and retailers of industrial, electrical, plumbing and precision engineering tools

It started in 1976 in a one-room office in Birkirkara, its line of activity limited to selling plastic raw material and participating in government tenders. In 1982, it moved to new premises in Valletta and the company was given a new direction by the introduction of the Tooling Division, handling engineering cutting tools and measuring instruments. This new activity involved for the first time the stocking and distribution of goods.

That same year, MCE Ltd opened the Electrical Division, stocking and distributing electrical installation and lighting materials, including switchgear, cables and luminaires.

As more storage and office space was felt necessary, the company built a new complex, MCE House, that was officially opened in June 1991.

At the turn of the century, the company started to take on turnkey projects and successfully completed many floodlighting projects, earthing and lightning protection projects, HV and LV installations and installed and commissioned very large generator sets. During this time, it also embarked to enhance the Electrical Division with the distribution of plumbing materials, renaming it the Electrical and Plumbing Division.

For the third time in its history, the company realised it had outgrown its warehousing facilities and, in 2003, initiated the construction of the second phase of MCE House, in Qormi. This phase included new parking facilities, additional storage area, larger offices and facilities for a new shop for the Engineering and Tooling Division.
