MaltaPost plc is the island’s leading postal services company, being the sole licensed Universal Service Provider of a postal service. It is one of the country's largest private employers and, being the national postal operator, it collects and delivers mail to every address on the Maltese islands six days-a-week, operating through a comprehensive retail network of outlets.

Registered as a public limited company in April 1998, it is regulated by the Malta Communications Authority and is listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. The company commenced trading on 1st May 1998 in terms of a licence granted by the Government of Malta, taking over the operations of the former Posts Department through a licence issued by the Postmaster General.

In addition to the delivery of mail and the retail of philatelic products, utility bills and licences can also be paid at MaltaPost’s branches and business customers are provided with services such as unaddressed advertising mail. Fast, trackable and secure delivery both within Malta and Gozo and worldwide are offered by two of the company's service lines, Express Mail Service and MaltaPost Express International.

MaltaPost has developed a state-of-the-art document management centre in Xewkija, which is equipped to scan, archive and index information of both electronic and physical formats.
