Circular Economy Malta has announced the loss of its “beloved” Chief Executive Officer Anthony Rizzo, who passed on Thursday.

Ing Rizzo was a respected local business leader and public servant, also holding a CEO position at Malta Resources Authority.

He had an impressive career, graduating from the University of Malta and working for Air Malta between 1979 and 1990, when he left to take senior positions at Menrad and Playmobil.

He returned to the public sector in 2002 when he was appointed chief executive officer at the Water Services Corporation.

He spent four years at the entity, overseeing a substantial improving of its finances, with the government subvention falling to its lowest ever levels.

Ing Rizzo’s passing was mourned by many across Malta, including by former Environment Minister (current Transport Minister) Aaron Farrugia, who reminisced the enthusiasm and dedication that he brought to his roles.

“My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time,” the Minister added.
