Home Affairs, Security and Employment Minister Byron Camilleri has appointed Celia Falzon as CEO of Jobsplus, Malta’s Public Employment Service.

Ms Falzon will be replacing Leonid McKay, who was recently appointed as CEO of the Labour Party.

Minister Camilleri congratulated the new CEO for her new role while thanking Mr McKay for his work at Jobsplus.

Over the years, Ms Falzon has held numerous leadership positions, including Head of Regulatory Affairs within the Malta Communications Authority, CEO of Pharmacy of Your Choice (POYC), and Director responsible for the health reform programme.

Her most recent role was that of CEO of Mater Dei hospital from 2020 to 2024. During the period, Ms Falzon guided the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, implementing the hospital’s pandemic response plan while ensuring minimal impact on staff.

She also played a key role in acquiring essential equipment and contributed significantly to the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

As CEO of POYC from 2017 and 2020, she oversaw various reforms, this includes the transition to technological systems aimed at creating a more efficient system for both customers and employees.

In addition, in her capacity as Director responsible for the health reform programme, she was instrumental in reducing waiting times for surgeries.

Ms Falzon obtained a Master’s in Business Administration specialising in strategic planning from Maastricht School of Management.
