Test results on a Bank of Valletta Ta' l-Ibrag branch staff member came up negative for the COVID-19 virus. As a result, the branch would be reopened on Monday.

Late on Friday, BOV had announced it was closing the branch after a staff member felt unwell, and was consequently tested for the virus. As of Saturday, Malta registered nine new cases, taking the total to 73.

“Bank of Valletta will take all the necessary measures in the best interest and safety of customers and its staff and is once again encouraging customers to use the many digital channels to effect payments and withdraw cash and to only visit branches for urgent banking requirements.

“Furthermore. it is encouraging people visiting branches to respect social distancing and stay apart at least one metre when queuing,” the bank said in a statement.
