This year, as part of its long-running support of the University of Malta Faculty of Arts' Dean’s List, Bank of Valletta (BOV) sponsored the largest contingent of students ever to make it onto this list.
11 students, the largest number in the award’s 25-year history, were granted with a commemorative certificate and monetary grant from the Bank, as part of its ESG commitment “to contribute towards inclusive and equitable education”.
The students, namely Marie Abela, Maria Attard, Jean Paul Borg, Claire Bugeja, Rachel Deguara, Hannah Dowling, Nadine Grixti, Andre Mifsud, Natalia Mizzi, Deborah Muscat and Rochelle Lorraine Xerri, earned their place in the list by attaining a “Grade A” or better in 80 out of 120 credits during the first two years of their courses.
“The Dean’s list is designed to honour outstanding academic performance and a sign of dedication, consistency and commitment”, said Charles Azzopardi, BOV’s Executive PR and Marking.
“It is indeed a pleasure to be here representing the Bank of Valletta during this celebration of excellence. The fact that today’s event marks a quarter of a century since the inception of the award and having the largest ever group of inductees makes it even more memorable”, he added.
On the part of UoM, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dominic Fenech commented: “We are extremely delighted to see the largest every group at this presentation ceremony which means that both the quality of the students as well as the learning experience are constantly on the increase”.
“The fact that the students are competing against themselves and their abilities against a very stringent benchmark highlights the prestige of the award”, he concluded.
