The local branch of Baxter, a multinational manufacturing company in the healthcare sector, has announced the further expansion of its operations by 10 per cent, leading to the expected creation of 50 jobs.

Enterprise, Energy and Sustainable Development Minister Miriam Dalli and Managing Director Brian Tabone presided over a press conference on Thursday afternoon, where the announcement was made.

Through aid coming from Malta Enterprise, in 2020 Baxter Malta expanded operations by an initial 20 per cent, meaning the company would have expanded operations by a total of 30 per cent since 2020, the year the pandemic struck.

During his address, Mr Tabone commented that Baxter fully believes in employee talent and that the company continually strives to provide its employees with the best conditions.

He noted that the company has also received an award for promoting a culture championing work-life balance.

Mr Tabone shared that Baxter Malta currently employs around 600 employees across several sectors, such as engineering, research and development, and manufacturing.

Also addressing the event, Dr Dalli commented:

“Baxter is a company that recognises the importance of sustainable operations. It has a target to reduce its energy consumption by three per cent annually and it’s continuously looking to become more energy efficient.”

Baxter’s Malta site has been in operation for the past 30 years and specialises in the manufacturing of plastic products used in hospitals and clinics globally.
