Bank of Valletta is announcing that with immediate effect, its 33 Branches will open from Monday to Friday between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm (noon).

In another initiative aimed at containing the COVID-19 spread and protecting the Bank’s employees and customers alike, the Bank will be closed for business on Saturdays until further notice. All BOV ATMs and other service channels will continue to be serviced and operational in the normal manner.

This follows last week’s announcement of a temporary closure of eight branches in Cospicua, Fgura, Fleur De Lys, Marsaxlokk, Msida, Qormi, Skyparks and Xewkija Gozo. It remaining network of 33 branches will now remain closed on Saturdays.

“Over these last weeks, we have been closely following developments and we have been implementing measures in a phased approach as the COVID-19 situation continued to evolve” stated BOV CEO Rick Hunkin. “All the decisions taken so far have been motivated by our responsibility to protect our employees and their families and equally so our customers and their respective families. Our staff have been working around the clock, with a great deal of commitment to ensure the least inconvenience to customers.”

Mr Hunkin also urged customers to refrain from visiting branches unnecessarily and to stay safe at home.

“Most of our branch services can now be effected through email, telephone and video conferencing. Customers seeking banking services can send us their request electronically and we will contact them back accordingly. This new norm is easier and more convenient for customers in the present circumstances and reduces the need for them to leave their homes unnecessarily in line with the guidance being provided by the health authorities.”

Customers are once again being encouraged to use the Bank’s ATMs across Malta and Gozo for cash withdrawals and deposits and even better to use their BOV cards or BOV Pay to pay for goods and services. In addition, the BOV Internet and Mobile Banking systems may be used for payments and other general banking requirements.

For any other service requirements, customers are to send an email to [email protected] specifying the type of service they require, their mobile number, ID Card number and branch where they normally effect their banking. A BOV officer will contact customers to provide the necessary assistance. Alternatively, customers may call on 2275 3500, Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. Queries sent through email is the preferred mode of communication in these circumstances.
