Ann Fenech, Fenech and Fenech Advocates’ Head of Marine Litigation Department and President of the Comité Maritime International (CMI), was awarded the 'Newsmaker of the Year' award.

The award was given during a ceremony held on the eve of the Malta Maritime Summit, by the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett.

In her acceptance speech, Dr Fenech expressed her honour at receiving the award and remarked that numerous persons present also deserved the award in view of the collective effort made in pushing the Malta maritime industry and agenda forward on the international and national fronts.

Furthermore, she also shared her experience in the three years of leading the CMI, of gaining insight into what was required to achieve unification of international maritime law. This as exemplified in the CMI’s work in pushing forward the adoption of the Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Shops, in which Malta played a key role.

Dr Fenech ended her speech by thanking her colleagues within the CMI and Fenech and Fenech, the technical and legal practitioners she worked with and Transport Malta directorates, regulators and politicians for sharing the common agenda of achieving the best results for Maritime Malta.
