A graduate in Facilities Management from the Leeds Beckett University, Steve Abela was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Plaza Centres plc in 2018.

“My professional career started in the architectural field and I later moved into property management,” he says. In fact, he served as draughtsman and land surveyor for 12 years before joining FIMBank plc as Facilities Coordinator in 2008. He was Facilities Manager at FIM Property Investment Ltd for almost six years before moving to Plaza.

“I am a member of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management and have extensive experience in the fields of project management, space planning and health and safety,” Mr Abela explains.

Plaza Centres plc owns the Plaza Shopping and Commercial Centre, in Sliema. It also used to own Tignè Place, in the same locality, which, however, it sold in September 2020. The Plaza Shopping and Commercial Centre consists of a mix of retail, catering and office suites spread over nine floors built around a central atrium.
