Having joined HSBC in 1986, Simon Vaughan Johnson was appointed Chief Executive Officer HSBC Bank Malta plc in April 2020.

“I have broad and deep international banking experience as a Country Head, also working across commercial banking, wealth and personal banking and global banking and global markets. Additionally, I have worked in financial crime risk, trade services, payments and cash management and e-Commerce,” he explains.

His postings span nine countries and four regions. Prior to his present appointment, he headed the Remediation Management Office – HSBC France, where he was responsible for designing, building and maintaining an integrated Financial Crime Risk Remediation Programme for HSBC France. Before that, Mr Vaughan Johnson served as Chief Executive Officer for HSBC Kuwait.

A certified anti-money laundering specialist, he graduated with Honours from the University of Stirling, majoring in English and French. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.

Mr Vaughan Johnson is married with three children.
