Andrew Debattista Segond describes himself as a distinguished entrepreneur and visionary in the construction and real estate sectors, renowned for his leadership in establishing and expanding multiple successful businesses.

Andrew founded Smart Homes Ltd with a clear mission: to deliver high-quality construction services across both private and public sectors. Under his guidance, the company has flourished, leading to the establishment of two additional development firms, Smarthomes Developments Ltd and Smarthomes Real Estate Ltd.

“Through these entities, I have overseen numerous development projects, culminating in over 500 residential units across Malta and Gozo, ranging from modern apartment blocks to opulent townhouses, villas, and farmhouses,” Andrew shares with WhosWho.mt.

As the Smarthomes Group continued its impressive growth trajectory, he further diversified his portfolio by founding Smartcare Group. This new venture was designed to explore opportunities in different sectors, beginning with the launch of Dar Pinto, an old people’s home located in Qormi, which now operates at full capacity.

The Smartcare Group comprises four subsidiaries: Smartcare Properties Ltd, focusing on property ownership and management; Smartcare Finance plc, the financial arm of the group; Smartcare Holdings Ltd, the group's holding company; and Segond Boutique Hotels Ltd, which operates a luxurious boutique hotel in Gozo featuring 52 elegant rooms, a conference centre, and an exquisite restaurant.

Most recently, Andrew expanded his reach into Sicily with Bella Sicilia Srl, which has rapidly become the largest new property developer in Southeast Sicily within just five years, Andrew shares.

Bella Sicilia Srl boasts a diverse portfolio of developments and a robust professional infrastructure, with its operations office strategically located in Pozzallo, directly opposite Villa Comunale.

The company employs a dedicated team of architects, designers, builders, and craftsmen, complemented by a strong marketing and sales apparatus.

Among its notable projects are San Andrea Residences (18,000 sqm), La Laguna Resort (over 30,000 sqm), Spiaggia D'Oro featuring luxury seafront villas (20,000 sqm), Le Ville Del Borgho (over 100,000 sqm), and Borgho Zesira, a complex of four super villas on over 90,000 sqm, alongside various other luxury residences.
