The third edition of Malta's Start-up Festival, for the first time, will have its very own pitch competition. With the name ‘Pitch Black’, start-ups and scaleups will have the opportunity to secure funds or attract investments through local and international businesses.
Posting on Linkedin, the Head of Malta Enterprise’s External Unit Jurgen Zammit explained that Pitch Black is an attempt “to shine a light on participants and the MVPs prospect without extra frills.” During a pitch deck, a company has the opportunity to offer insight on the company’s value proposition, its business model, market and growth opportunities as well as growth strategies. The right ‘package’ might attract potential investors, stakeholders or partners in the business.
The festival will take place between the 5th - 6th October at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre (MFCC), in Ta’ Qali. This year’s business event will see a number of tailor-made practical workshops along with keynote talks by international guests and “thought-provoking” panels, as seen in previous editions.
Mr Zammit further added that during the past years, Malta Enterprise, which organises the annual event, has increased its efforts to attract start-ups, whilst also supporting the scaling of established ventures. It is for that reason that that Malta Enterprise launched the first edition of the Start-Up Festival Malta, back in 2021.
During the past two editions, the festival hosted “some of the best entrepreneurial minds in Malta and has managed to attract hundreds of new and international businesses, representing various sectors.” This includes FinTech, digital gaming, VR/AR, Metaverse, medicinal cannabis, BioTech, MedTech and blue economy.
