Experienced hospitality professional Rustam Iskandarzade has been named Cluster Marketing Manager at St Julian’s-based hotels InterContinental and Holiday Inn Express Malta, he shared on Monday.

He thanked all those involved in the hiring process and for providing him with the opportunity, which “wouldn’t have been possible” without the support of Cluster Director of Sales and Marketing Nicholas A. Rana, as well as Cluster Human Resources Director Marijana Fedoroff.

“It was a long process, but with the best ending. I am very excited to start this new journey in Malta,” Mr Iskandarzade added.

This is his first venture in Malta’s hospitality industry, having previously served in a number of roles at various hotels in Azerbaijan under the Marriott brand. These include as Multi-Property Marketing Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Baku for more than a year, as well as Assistant Public Relations and Marketing Manager at JW Marriott Absheron, also in Baku.

Additionally, Mr Iskandarzade worked as Junior Marketing Consultant at UK-based pub retailer and brewer Greene King as part of a project while studying for a Master of Arts degree in Marketing Management from Coventry University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Management from Azerbaijan State University of Economics.

Ever since it opened in 2003, InterContinental Malta has established itself as “the Mediterranean’s leading hotel of distinction,” with all of its 481 bedrooms being “elegantly furnished”. Along with the three-star limited-service Holiday Inn Express Hotel, InterContinental forms part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
