Rachel Bonnici on Wednesday announced that she is joining the well-known cruise company Viking as a Nautical Manager.

Ms Bonnici shared that she will be starting a new position at the company’s head office in Basel Switzerland, where its operational headquarters are.

Viking provides destination-focused itineraries and operates a fleet of state-of-the-art ships that have received numerous accolades since their launch from industry experts and travelers alike.

The company has three divisions, Viking River Cruises, Viking Ocean Cruises and Viking Expeditions.

Ms Bonnici has industry experience via Malta’s Mifsud Brothers Ltd as a Land Programs and Yachting Executive for almost four years and has also served for multiple cruise companies.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism Studies from the University of Malta, and most recently completed a master’s degree in World Heritage Studies from the highly regarded technical Brandenburg University of Technology in Germany.

Ms Bonnici describes herself as an experienced mariner with a passion for marine heritage, and is a Maltese native who is also proficient in German.

Her latest venture is the launch of the educational platform "The Heritage Porthole" which is a storytelling project connecting the maritime heritage legacy across the seven seas.

Viking is known locally. In July 2021, it celebrated its first welcome back sailings in the Mediterranean with voyages by the Viking Sea and sister ship Viking Venus launching from Valletta, where the ships homeported for the summer.
