With over 45 years experience in the audit firm Joseph Tabone & Co, which eventually was admitted as a full member of KPMG International in 1989, when I was appointed Senior Partner, I have signed off a number of high-profile companies such as GO Plc, Lombard Bank Plc, MedServ Plc, Mid Med Bank, and HSBC Insurance Limited amongst others, and also acted as quality review partner whilst KPMG audited the Central Bank of Malta. The firm grew over the years from around 20 staff members to 250 staff members and ten partners. I was lucky enough to also act as the HR Partner for several years and Partner responsible for IT within the firm, which gave me tremendous satisfaction with the achievements that we as a team achieved over the years. It also gives me great pleasure to see staff members that I interviewed being promoted as directors and partners by the firm over the past few years since my retirement from KPMG in 2012.
Between 2012 and 2014 I was assigned to Libya to set up a KPMG office in the country, and was responsible for audit clients and the firm’s risk management. In July 2014 I jointed Baker Tilly Malta as a lead and technical audit consultant. Since 2015, I have been appointed on listed and non-listed entities acting as a Non Executive Director and Chair of audit committees. My auditing experience covers a number of industries, from banks to insurance companies, manufacturing, tourism, gas and oil, construction, and retail and wholesale entities. I have also enjoyed working in the UK, Cairo, and Libya.
