On Monday, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) announced that Edward Montebello has been appointed to the position of Head of Communications within the same office.

Mr Montebello takes over from Matthew Carbone, who served as Deputy Head of Communications between 2013 and 2019, and Head between 2019 and 2022.

He officially begins the new role on Monday 2nd May.

Mr Montebello is a graduate of history and education, and has spent most of his career working as a teacher, and then in local media.

He is perhaps best known for his role as a producer and editor at ONE News, the Labour Party’s media house.

OPM wished Matthew Carbone well and thanked him for his service.
