Farsons Group on Friday announced that Joseph Camilleri has been appointed Head of Human Resources (HR).

In doing so, he replaces Antoinette Caruana, who has stepped down from her role as Group HR Manager after more than 14 years. She has also vacated her post as Company Secretary.

“We extend our gratitude to Antoinette for her valuable contributions during her years of services at Farsons Group, and we wish her the very best,” the group said.

Mr Caruana first joined Farsons Group in 2009, and during her time at the group she was tasked with providing a “comprehensive and professional HR function to the organisation” in order to enable it to work towards achieving its goals. As Company Secretary, she was also entrusted with ensuring that it complies with the legal standards of corporate governance and to “act as a point of reference” between the Board of Directors and company shareholders.

It also proceeded to give a “warm welcome” to Mr Camilleri, before adding that the team “looks forward to working closely with him in the months and years ahead”.

He joins after over four years as HR Director at pharmaceutical company Teva/Actavis Generics. Prior to that, he worked at Baxter for more than 27 years, initially as Production Engineer, before working his way up the corporate ladder to HR Manager.

Mr Camilleri holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Malta, yet through his various years of working in HR, he has also become particularly skilled in HR policies, succession planning, and talent management.

Established in 1928, Farsons Group is engaged in the brewing, production, sale and distribution of branded beers and beverages, the importation, wholesale and retail of food and beverages including wines and spirits, the operation of franchised food retailing establishments and property development. It is made up of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, Farsons Beverage Imports Company Limited, Food Chain Limited, Quintano Foods Limited, EcoPure Limited, and Trident Estates Limited.
